Cool Cats were a little slow to get started in the first, but once they did they were on fire! The second saw a lot of penalties on both teams and a pretty even period, each team putting one in the net. The Coooool Cats take another homestand sweep and did Valerino get another hat trick tonight - in the FIRST period? YES!

Cool Cats are up by two after a fairly evenly played first period. The cats put four more up in a dominating second period, while giving up two on NC State power plays. The last period had the cats looking a little rocked back early, but with three more goals they easily took the victory. Valerino put up another hat trick somewhere in the mix of it all!

Obviously a very tight game throughout the match, the Wildcats coming from behind in both the 1st and 3rd, making the final tie with 57 seconds remaining in that period. The Cats took the game in OT.

Seems like from the twitter feed indicated and what I saw from Mr. Hinkley, the Cats won quiet handily!

The Cats seemed to start out a bit flat and Northwestern was a seemingly different team. Late in the first the Cats capitalized on penalties to get on the board. Midway in the second the cats turned on, scoring three in one 32 second stretch. Cats controlled most of the third, Valerino gets another hat trick (apparently every time his Dad is in the stands), averaging 10 points a game now, and they they take 12 points in the standings to the Showcase next weekend!

The Cool Cats are continuing with their winning ways jumping out to a 7-0 lead in the first period of play. Second saw a bit of a slow down and some penalties, but not to bad for the Cats who still put up 3 more. Cats take the win and Valerino gets another hat trick in the third!

The barn was packed tonight as technically the EKU club played host to the Wildcats. Aside from a few extra EKU fans in the stands, it still had the feeling of largely a home game. The Cool Cats pretty much dominated from beginning to end and the rivalry between the teams showed that UK can be a very physical team hard hitting team.

The Cool Cats dominated the first period of play, scoring first around the ten minute mark and putting up a total of seven points. In the second period the highlight was Valerino putting his third puck in the net for a hat trick. The Wildcats were not done yet though, five more in the third with a second hat trick by Ampleford in the mix!

The Cool Cats continued where they left off the night before, taking a lead to the locker room for the first period. The second period they had several penalties and Niagara got back in the game, taking the lead, having scored three goals. The Cats came back out in the third and got goal to tie it up forcing overtime. Just past two minutes in the OT, the Cats put one in the net to clinch the sweep for their season opening stand.

In last nights Kentucky Ice Hockey opener, the Wildcats dismantled the Niagara D1 club winning seven to three. The Wildcats, who are in the ACHA D2 division, looked like a D1 club as they took the lead with 12:01 remaining in the first period and never relinquished it.
With six different scorers for the Wildcats, stellar defense and penalty kill, they look to be a force to be reckoned with in the ACHA this season.
